Living a busy lifestyle and putting sleep as a low priority can lead to feeling exhausted and foggy-brained.

Other instances of constantly feeling tired can be caused by internal processes, such as nutrient deficiencies or other contributing factors.

So, how do you know what is causing your problem?

What Can Cause These Symptoms?

Fatigue and stress can cause tiredness and irritability, sleep disorders, or malnourishment. Discovering the potential culprits for how you’re feeling can lead to creating a proper treatment plan to help relieve your symptoms.

Working the night shift can also lead to some sleeping disorders and other issues.

Medications and supplements or vitamins can be recommended to help counteract weariness.

11 Tips to Help Alleviate Feeling Tired

After undergoing tests and creating a treatment plan, specific activities can help you prolong your results.

  1. Consider seeing a therapist. Sometimes discussing your life with a professional can significantly help your mood and stress levels.
  2. Build a strong support group. You can talk to people who are in similar situations and reach out to loved ones to help you. Typically, the ones you’re closest to are happy to help by being a listening, supportive friend.
  3. Find stress reduction techniques that work for you. Start saying no when you cannot add more to your to-do list. Read a book. Try a new hobby. Meditate. Everyone has different relaxation methods, so find which works best for you and pursue that.
  4. Improve your sleep hygiene by only devoting your bed to sleep. Stick to a relaxing environment for the last hour before you go to bed, so your body eases into a bedtime mindset. Establish a sleep schedule and try to maintain the same routine all week.
  5. Change your diet to healthier options. Your primary physician can help you determine the best diet for your lifestyle.
  6. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Start walking more by parking further away, taking the stairs when you have the option, and utilizing your breaks at work to walk around the building.
  7. Discuss all of your medications with your primary physician. Certain medications may be contributing to your mentality and mood.
  8. Practice positive self-talk. Rather than talking down to yourself or thinking negatively, train your mind to turn situations into something positive.
  9. Set small goals for yourself with deadlines. Dedicate yourself to doing a little bit at a time and give yourself patience.
  10. Drink more water and cut back on your caffeine intake. Be sure not to drink any caffeine after noon.
  11. Eliminate bad habits, such as smoking. By reducing alcohol and drug intake and completely removing tobacco usage, your mood can be elevated.

Getting a handle on your stress and receiving treatment for your emotional, physical, and cognitive symptoms can help avoid long-term issues caused by ignoring these signs.
