Visible facial aging can begin to form as you get older, and can include wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. These signs of aging can make you appear angry and tired, even when you’re in an excellent mood and well-rested.
Minimally invasive approaches to addressing your facial aging can include cosmetic fillers, injectables, and Dermaroller® treatments. All of these products are designed to reduce signs of aging without surgery.
What Are the Benefits?
Minimally invasive techniques are a viable alternative to surgical procedures and do not typically require anesthesia or downtime. Additional benefits include:
- Lower cost than a surgical procedure
- Quicker procedure and recovery period (if necessary)
- No permanent scars after treatment
- Long-lasting results when regular maintenance treatments are continued
Are Non-invasive Treatments Right for Me?
Many patients are opting for non-surgical treatments to address their facial concerns, such as lost volume, scarring, blemishes, wrinkles, fine lines, and crow’s feet. Side effects after treatment are rare.
The best way to determine if a non-invasive technique is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cristy Thomas, DNP, FNP-BC, APRN, to discuss your concerns, preferences, and desired results.
Dermal Fillers
Products such as Restylane® can provide fuller, more voluminous facial contours. Cosmetic fillers are designed to plump the lips, cheeks, and other areas of the face.
There are several formulations of Restylane® available to treat various areas of the face.
KYBELLA®
Excess fat under your jaw, also known as a double chin, can be addressed with KYBELLA® injections. This injectable treatment targets submental fat and destroys it.
Injectables
Injectable treatments, such as Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN®, are all designed to block the nerves from allowing the muscles to contract, which is what causes most facial aging.
All three products can address crow’s feet, but Botox® Cosmetic can also treat frown lines, mouth lines, and wrinkles around the eyes.
Dermaroller®
By making microchannels in the skin, Dermaroller® treatments can address acne, enlarged pores, scars and blemishes, skin looseness, stretch marks, and uneven skin texture or tone by promoting elastin and collagen production.
As the treated area heals, it reveals smoother, softer, healthier skin.
How Can I Prolong My Results?
Certain behaviors and habits can lead to worsened wrinkles and fine lines, so we have composed a list of some tips to prolong your results.
- Avoid sun exposure and wear sun protection (mineral sunblock with SPF 30 or higher, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, etc.)
- Adopt a regular skincare routine with high-quality ingredients and wash your skin every morning and evening.
- Remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water and eat a well-balanced diet.
