You may have already heard about hormone replacement therapy as a solution for women who are struggling with menopausal symptoms and other hormone deficiency conditions, yet there is still more to this therapy than what little we may already know.
There are various uses for hormone replacement therapy. This treatment may either be taken as a systemic hormone therapy or as low-dose vaginal preparations of the hormone estrogen.
Systemic Hormone Therapy
The systemic route means that estrogen is contained in a form of a pill, gel, skin patch, cream, or spray. By far, systemic estrogen is the most effective treatment for the relief of menopausal symptoms like night sweats and hot flashes. The estrogen hormone is also responsible for alleviating vaginal symptoms, which include itching, dryness, a burning sensation, or discomfort during intercourse. Aside from this, estrogen is administered to prevent osteoporosis, although many doctors already recommend bisphosphonates as a treatment for the disease.
Low-Dose Vaginal Products
These estrogen preparations come in tablets, creams, and ring form products. They are manufactured to treat vaginal symptoms effectively. Moreover, they can be taken to minimize some urinary symptoms. However, these preparations have no effect on other menopausal symptoms like night sweats, hot flashes, nor can it protect one from osteoporosis.
Although hormone replacement therapy provides numerous benefits, it is associated with a couple of risks, such as stroke, heart disease, breast cancer, and blood clotting conditions. This is why it is important to get expert advice about the treatment here at Vitality Medical & Wellness Center.
